Privacy Policy
Memovo is a voice journaling app. You speak, and your words are turned into a written journal entry. This page explains exactly what we collect, where it goes, and how to delete it.
Memovo is operated by Skyroon Labs, a sole proprietorship run by Barış Duman (Istanbul, Türkiye). For any privacy question, write to support.skyroonlabs@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Voice recordings. The audio you record in the app.
- Journal content. The raw transcript of what you said, the journal text generated from it, titles, summaries, and any edits you make.
- Photos. Images you choose to attach to an entry.
- Place names. Text you type yourself, such as "Beykoz Coast".
Information collected automatically
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us technical diagnostics — device model, operating system version, and the error itself. Crash reports never contain your journal text, transcripts, audio, or photos.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, RevenueCat records the purchase and a device identifier so your subscription works across your devices.
What we do not collect
- Your device location. Memovo does not request location permission and cannot read your GPS position. Place names exist only because you typed them.
- Analytics or usage tracking. We do not record which screens you open or how often you use the app.
- Advertising identifiers. There is no advertising in Memovo.
- Contacts, calendar, call logs, or SMS.
2. Where your data is stored
Some information stays only on your phone and is never uploaded.
| Data | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Email address | Our servers (Firebase Authentication) |
| Transcript, journal text, title, summary | Our servers (Cloud Firestore) and your device |
| Photos | Our servers (Cloud Storage) and your device |
| Place name you typed | Our servers and your device |
| Coordinates, city, country | Your device only — never uploaded |
| Audio file — paid plans | Our servers and your device |
| Audio file — free plan | Your device only — see below |
Audio on the free plan. Your recording is uploaded so it can be transcribed. As soon as transcription and journal generation finish, the audio file is deleted from our servers. The copy on your own phone is unaffected. On paid plans, the audio file is kept on our servers so you can play it back from any device.
Our servers are Google Firebase services. Data is processed on Google infrastructure, which may be located outside your country, including in the United States.
3. Who else sees your data
To turn speech into a journal entry, your recording has to pass through two specialist providers. We share only what each one needs.
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Deepgram | Your audio recording | To convert speech into text |
| Anthropic | The text transcript | To clean it into a readable journal entry |
| Google (Firebase) | Account, journal content, photos, audio | Hosting, storage, sign-in, crash reports |
| RevenueCat | Purchase data, device identifier | To manage subscriptions |
| Google / Apple | Sign-in details | Only if you use their sign-in buttons |
These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes. Both Deepgram and Anthropic operate under terms that exclude API content from being used to train their models.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose data if we are legally required to do so.
4. Why we process your data
- To provide the service — creating, storing and syncing your entries. Without this we cannot operate the app.
- With your consent — sending your voice and journal content to the AI providers described above. You give this consent when you create your account, and you can withdraw it by deleting your account.
- To keep the app working — crash diagnostics and abuse prevention.
- To handle payments — managing your subscription if you have one.
5. How long we keep it
Your entries stay for as long as your account exists. A journal is only useful if the past stays put, so we do not delete old entries automatically.
When you delete your account from Settings, we permanently erase your journal entries, photos, audio files and account record from our servers. This cannot be undone. Data held on your own phone is removed when you uninstall the app.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Memovo gives you direct control over the main ones:
- Access and export — Settings → Export your data
- Correction — edit any entry directly in the app
- Erasure — delete a single entry, or your entire account, from Settings
For anything else, write to support.skyroonlabs@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in Türkiye, you may apply to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) under Article 11 of Law No. 6698.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on Google's infrastructure. Access to production data is limited to the operator of Skyroon Labs. API keys for our AI providers are held in Google Secret Manager and are never included in the app. You can add a device lock in Settings for an extra layer of protection.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
8. Children
Memovo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Device permissions
- Microphone — to record your entries. Required.
- Camera and photos — only if you attach an image.
- Notifications — only if you turn on reminders.
- Biometrics — only if you turn on the app lock. Your biometric data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
You can revoke any of these in your device settings.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
